Day 1: Monday 06 July 2020

Arrival and check in at the superior boutique Hotel Milano Scala. Located in the heart of the Brera district, a few steps from Via Montenapoleone, Duomo and Piazza della Scala, the Hotel Milano Scala is housed in an historical 1800 Milanese palazzo and combines contemporary hospitality and a passion for music, with the charm and sophistication of a boutique hotel.

Your afternoon is at leisure.

In the evening, join us at Hotel Milano Scala for our Welcome Dinner. Here you will be greeted by your host, opera singer Deborah Humble, and meet your travel companions over drinks and a delicious meal.


Day 2: Tuesday 07 July 2020

Enjoy a sleep in before being serenaded as you enjoy breakfast at your hotel. Today we will be taken through the most exciting spaces of Teatro alla Scala on an exclusive guided tour: historic boxes, royal box, foyer, stalls, stage movement mechanism, prompter’s box, fly tower, loggione, gallery foyer and view of the hall from inside the ceiling fixture from which the chandelier hangs.*

In the evening we return to Teatro alla Scala for a performance of a new production of Un Ballo in Maschero. Conducted by Zubin Mehta and directed by Gabriele Salvatores, the performance features Fabio Sartori as Riccardo, Luca Salsi as Renato, Saioa Hernández as Amelia & Violeta Urmana as Ulrica.**


Day 3: Wednesday 08 July 2020

Following breakfast, we’ll travel by private vehicle to Hotel Milano & SPA – Verona. A boutique hotel in the perfect location, featuring breathtaking views over the Arena and city skyline.

After check in, the rest of your day is at leisure.

Perhaps enjoy a champagne at the Terrazza Arena sky Lounge Bar & Restaurant on the fifth floor to admire the Arena, whilst enjoying the sounds of Aida!


Day 4: Thursday 09 July 2020

After breakfast, we will be taken on a private guided tour of this beautiful city with a special focus on music in Verona. This will include the Arena Opera Festival Exhibition, showcasing original sketches of stage set designs for the Arena Opera Festival from the very first performances in 1913, until today’s spectacular presentations.

Your afternoon is at leisure.

This evening we come together for a special Italian feast at Il Cenacolo, before this evening’s performance of Nabucco, at the Arena di Verona. An absolute spectacle, directed by French director Arnaud Bernard, and with a set (featuring Milan’s La Scala) by Alessandro Camera, this is sure to be an evening to remember!***


Day 5: Friday 10 July 2020

Following breakfast, we’ll travel by private vehicle to Hotel Porta San Mamolo – Bologna. A charming and romantic hotel, centrally located in historic Bologna.

After check in, your day and evening are at leisure.


Day 6: Saturday 11 July 2020

After breakfast, join Deborah Humble as she takes you on a bespoke walking tour through the streets of Bologna, Walking with Rossini.

Gioacchino Rossini (Pesaro 1792 – Paris 1868) lived in Bologna from 1799 until 1851, leaving behind several signs of his distinguished presence. Walk the historical promenades frequented by the artist including many important sights such as Rossini’s home & Bologna’s international music museum.

In the early evening, we will make our way to Teatro Comunale di Bologna to experience a rare double bill of operas; A Hand of Fate by Schoenberg & Bluebeard’s Castle by Bartók, featuring singers Gabor Bretz and Atala Schöck.**


Day 7: Sunday 12 July 2020

Your day is completely at leisure to enjoy the sights and sounds of this beautiful city! Deborah or your hotel concierge will be happy to make some sightseeing or tour suggestions.


Day 8: Monday 13 July 2020

Make sure you have a light breakfast, as today we have an Italian food experience like no other!

At 7am our private transfer and guide will meet us at our hotel for a full day Bologna Food Tour. This will include a tour of the Parmigiano Reggiano cheese factory, breakfast, traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Modena tastings, prosciutto factory tour and an Italian family style multi-course lunch with wine tasting.


Day 9: Tuesday 14 July 2020

Following breakfast, we’ll travel by private vehicle to the Hyatt Centric Milan Centrale – a modern boutique hotel, conveniently located at Milan central railway station.

After check in, the rest of your day is at leisure.


Day 10: Tuesday 15 July 2020

Today we bid farewell to Milan and our fellow Italian travelling companions, as our journey ‘An Italian Trio’ comes to an end.
